.:In my shoes:.

Its a shoe-aholics dream ....the job I work twice a year and it was coming up the following weekend. (wow when I look back- February was a busy month for me!)  It was gona be a girls weekend, but a sad one. My fellow model/ friend was not working this time, she had moved to Hawaii back in November. I was sad but happy for her at the same time. With her leaving my side I was called upon to help find a replacement model for the show that weekend in Atlanta. Lucky for me Nashville houses a lot of good looking size 6 shoe models, and most of them were friends of mine. Heather was requested to be my replacement for Alexis, and was planned to work for Sofft, but she had also been requested by George. Being the loyal person she is, she decided to work for George, and Amberley was hired to work with me. Heather became sick and unable to work, and I was left to find her replacement for George at the Cushe booth. I didn't want to let him down so I asked a friend to work last minute, and then we were off to Atlanta. Since I didn't work Fridays at the time we left that morning to drive down. The drive down was pretty awesome, curled up in the back seat I was relaxed and enjoying our bonding conversations. They were about meaningful things that enlighten the way or the path for which we live, whether them being moments in life that have happened to us or the unconscious mind that awakens deep in your dreams for you to piece together the next morning. It was definitely note worthy and I know I learned a few things along that rural route through the Georgia hills. Amberley had told Courtney and I about this outlet mall just 45 mins north of Buckhead up highway 400. My favorite stores I was anticipating were True Religion and BCBG Maxazria. As we rolled up to the land of the outlets, I was excited. I have always loved a good sale :) I would definitely say we loaded up on some goods while we were there, haha.  Then we headed to check in at the hotel. It was weird staying in a hotel this time, since I always stayed with Alexis. To our surprise when we walked into our suite there was a king. It was obvious that the hotel didn't get our double bed request and they were sold out of those rooms. So the 3 of us unpacked, freshened up, and piled on the king, 7 year old little girl slumber party style. It was quite entertaining. Amberley and Courtney both sleep with eye masks and I didn't. I remember waking up in the middle of the night and whispering to Courtney to pull the covers over because she was in the middle; ha ha, she reacted so fast that she jumped up out of her sleep and almost knocked me out with her arm because she couldn't see. LMAO this was so funny I laughed for days about it. Our hotel room in the morning was nothing but beauty secrets revealed. Amberley has this hobby of finding natural organic cosmetics that are good for the skin and she shared some of those with me. You can also view her blog for more info at http://www.naturalbeautyguru.blogspot.com/ . My friend that was supposed to work with Courtney left us hanging that morning, and I was stuck. It was last minute, thank goodness I could count on Summer she pulled through for part of the weekend to work with George. I was so thankful that I could pull things together so last minute like that. Once we got to work that day it was busy most of the day. Around lunch time I walked over to see if Summer had made it in and she did. It was such a relief. That night we went out to dinner in Atlanta, came home, and relaxed so that we could get up early for another day in the world of shoes. I was so happy to be working, it was my brief escape from reality. My Sofft shoe family were always wonderful people to see and catch up with, and I had so much tell them since August of the previous year. I enjoyed learning things from their experiences, whether it be in life or in business. I looked up to Phil and thrived in his presence during the shows to learn as much as I could about the industry hoping one day to be added to the family officially. One day.....yep, one day...but hey life is short, so you know what to do... buy the shoes :) everyone always feels good in a new pair of shoes, and I did in mine....Hello Chuck Taylor!
That was a wrap for the show and we were headed back to Nashville...back to my cold reality that was looking a little warmer, as I could begin to feel my heart beat again, my birthday rolled up two days later. At the strike of midnight I felt my phone buzz, not sure who it might have been,  I reached over and the glow of my phone in my dark room lit a name across the screen, it was Trae. He was wishing me happy birthday at 12:01 am on the 24th of February. It was so unexpected. I hadn't heard from him in a while. But it was good to know that he was thinking of me on my day of birth and the first one I received on my actual birthday. I got so many birthday wishes from friends and family and that one after everything still meant the most to me. When I got home from work that day, to my humble surprise was a small package from East Tennessee. Alys had sent me a gift, it was beautiful ring with my birthstone and a kindly reminder for when every time I wear it in the future of our friendship and though far away would always be there and support me no matter what my decisions were, or who I was dating or not dating. Even though I had my big party for my birthday, there were still a couple birthday events lined up for that last weekend of February.
Paige the sweet person that she was took my sister and I out to dinner for our birthdays in Cool Springs with Andrew and Brandon to Chuys. It was my first experience eating there, and it was so fun. We had a blast that night, after dinner we went to Dan McGunnis for a few drinks to hangout. But I wasn't feeling so well. We headed home after that. Forgetting to get my gifts from her car that night we set up another dinner the 3 of us at Virago's, where gifts we received, and I must say she did a great job picking out something I liked :) but I was sad that I had to exchange the sizes and the didn't have it my size anymore. I still greatly appreciated her caring and thoughtfulness.
Happy Valley was the conclusion to this February escapade I was on. In my true 80's baby soulful fashion, I rocked my Chuck Taylors, an over sized tee-shirt, and tights that night with a leather jacket....Yep it was so much fun. Andrew and I met up with a bunch of friends that night. We rocked out til late in the night, with pillow fights and photo shoots. This birthday was great, this month was great. Celebrating with amazing new friends and getting my spirits back. I hadn't seen the "Dr." much that month because of everything that I had going on, but we were still talking and getting to know each other better, it was slowly growing but that was ok with me. The next month was going to be crazy, finding a new place to live with adding Erin as a roommate, Vegas, and the Playboy Mansion trip coming up, I had a lot to plan for. But I was ready for the next adventures I was about to embark on.

New Year New Decade

As I enter a new decade of my life....I reflect on the past one.....and look forward to the new chapter I have just begun....may 2010 bring us happiness! Every New Years Eve we get together to celebrate the past year  and toast to the hope of a successful new one. This NYE was spent in Atlanta with close family and friends. It was a short lived trip, but a pretty amazing night. I still remember the countdown, the toast, the kiss, and the words "I love you" at the stroke of midnight...and in that moment we entered a new decade. How was this new period of time going to play out we had NO idea. I was so happy in that moment, so surreal my life was, almost as if I were dreaming and needed to wake up.

That following January we got hit with big snow storm. It was the largest one Tennessee has seen in a long time. I was out of work for a few days waiting on the ice to melt.  I must say this though, it was nice to be
locked up at home with my two favorite men. This was Bentley's first snow, and he loved it!! I was getting ready for a year a travel...In store for Feb was two more trips to Atlanta, one for my birthday party and another for shoe modeling.
The Birthday party was something that I had planned as a surprise for my sister and my best friend Chris...both had wanted to do something fun and different...so I made arrangements to spend the weekend in Atlanta. I booked all the hotel rooms and the VIP table for the party. I surprised them both with actually being there for the weekend. Both thought I had made other plans. Chris was so funny and depressed that Tamara or myself didn't plan anything big for our 25th bday and she was taking him out of town away from his friends for the weekend, and as for my sister she was just bummed that I wasn't able to come to her party...both surprises turned out perfect. I was able to get there before them and decorate their rooms and record the surprise!!
Later that evening we went out on the town and celebrated....I was so happy that my plan worked but really sad that my girlfriends didn't come, but all in all I had the most important people there.

That following weekend I was back in Atlanta for the shoe show...I didn't get to spend a lot of time with my local friends the weekend before but this weekend was dedicated to shoes and Alexis. Her and I had became really close friends over the past year and half. I always enjoy my weekends modeling shoes...what women wouldn't??? I mean you walk in this amazingly large convention room full of shoes that are all your size!! Well you can say 3 days of SHOE Heaven....I love everyone I work with too, Sofft Shoes are simply amazing...every February its a tradition to go to dinner for my birthday after the show...this year it was Cheesecake Factory... yummmm one of my faves...The next day at work I got about 15 pairs of shoes as a birthday present as well to take home from that lovely trip. Lets just say it was an amazing weekend!! Once I got home my birthday was only a few days away. I planned an evening out to dinner with my friends in Nashville. A small select few of us went. My choice was Urban Flats it is absolutely one of my favorite places to eat in Nashville. The food is amazing and the price is right! I enjoyed the company of friends and family over wine and flats.
I spent the last weekend of my birthday month devoted to my baby sister. She met me work with the cutest birthday card ever! We hit the road to Memphis, it was her first time there. She was excited! I was taking her gambling for the first time.We got in late that night around 9 pm. I told her we had to change quickly and get down to the tables...LOL I was ready to make some money! I had a little bit of free play to get us started...But the best news was running into my friends that are always there. We ended up doing pretty well that night...She couldn't believe how lucky we were and how much fun playing blackjack was. The next day I had plans for us to go to a concert to see Eric Clapton. It was such a fun night listening to the music of a legend! I was so happy to see this in my lifetime...another check off my bucklist.

On our last morning there, we woke up early and explored Memphis, had world famous BBQ on Beale Street, we also got to see the Peabody Ducks walk down the red carpet...It was one of the most beautiful days ever. The ride home was amazing and Britt was excited to be coming home with cash in her pocket!  But I was more excited about my future plans in March just a couple weeks away to scratch off my buck list!!

*Time to Shine in 2009*

It was my first year out of college and I didn't know what to expect, I spent the last 23 years of my life in a classroom, and working. But that was in the past now. It was a big adjustment, I had worked so hard all those years to get to this point and now that I was here...Well...not much was different other than the fact I didn't have to worry about missing class, taking tests, etc...I started this new winding road to life. Where my wildest dreams were possible if I just believed that it could happen, and if I pursued them.
One of the first things I did that year was return to Americasmart for the Gift and Home Furnishings Market. It was much fun to come back and work, and visit with friends there. The girls were so much fun... "All the Single Ladies" by Beyonce was our song! LOL...Market week was 10 days long, but I loved working the long hours. Seeing the exhibitors that remembered me from the summer before was so nice. I enjoyed every minute I could for my short time there. Then it was back home to Nashville.
Birthday season was coming up...February has always been my craziest month of the year. I celebrate a birthday almost every week, and then I have somehow managed to squeeze a weekend in for the Atlanta Shoe Tradeshow. This month was different though, my sister was turning 21 finally... Her place of choice for the evening was PLAY...a local bar that I had never been to before. Everyone came to my house to get ready and have drinks before the adventurous night began. I was surprised that I had so much fun there that night, although that could have been because I could finally go out with my sister! We danced and partied the night away. I think that she had an amazing time! I am definitely proud of her for making it through the whole night! LOL much unlike my 21st birthday. Oh the memories!
The following weekend I was back in Atlanta to model shoes for Sofft Shoe Co. The people I work for are so nice and truly an inspiration for my career. I look up to them and learn something new every time. My promo modeling was starting to take off, I was booking more events. I have always loved working this show though, because well, you get the picture...its SHOE HEAVEN and everything I see is in MY size! But I also like it so much because I get to spend the weekend with an amazing person I met the year before, Alexis. She is such a great friend, I love spending time with her and working with her. Its always a wonderful break from our normal lives.
Once back in Nashville I celebrated my 23rd birthday with my babycakes. Alys came to visit for her birthday as well. My little boy was growing so fast, he was the cutest, little, rambunctious thing that kept me happy. I was currently working at Buckle during the holidays and into the new year, but I needed something different, something with normal 8-5 hours, having different schedules from Trae was making it hard to plan things with him, since he was so consumed with his new company Evergreen Ps, but as the seasons changed and spring break was around the corner. Travel was in my future days to come. And a new direction in my career.
